Among the Tors: An Orla Kiely Shoot on Dartmoor
Set against the wild, windswept beauty of Dartmoor, our latest Orla Kiely shoot brings together fashion and the freedom of the outdoors. Granite tors rise from the landscape, open skies stretch endlessly, and every step feels like a return to something elemental. It’s the perfect backdrop for our Bags for Good collection designed to move with you — practical, expressive, and rooted in individuality.
For this shoot, we collaborated with Jasmine and Aya, climbing enthusiasts whose connection to the outdoors runs deep. Between takes, we asked them a few questions about what draws them outside — and what they look for in the perfect bag.

What draws you to the outdoors?
Aya: “The outdoors draws me in because it feels like a natural healer. It grounds me, reconnects me to myself and the world around me, and brings out my best. It’s where I feel most at peace, strong, present, and fully myself.”
Jasmine: "I find the quietness of the outdoors almost contagious. It fills my brain instantly and suddenly I have the space to stop and think, to let go, and to switch off."
What is the best feature to look for in bags?
Aya: “I look for practicality above all. A bag shouldn’t be so big that it feels heavy, but not so small that it’s purely decorative. I love a bag that can make a statement while still doing its job well.”
Jasmine: "Loads of pockets and easy to grab and wear on the go - designed to stay on your shoulders no matter what."

Where did your love for the outdoors come from?
Aya: “My love for the outdoors started when I got into climbing. Where I’m from, we have beautiful mountains and lakes, and climbing gave me the chance to truly explore them. It brought out a completely different side of me. I’ve become much more connected to the environment and have a deeper respect for nature and animals.”
Jasmine: "Growing up in Italy, the outdoors were part of my everyday life, which is something I didn't appreciate until I moved to the London in 2020. As a teenager I wasn't naturally interested in the outdoors - but when the pace of life increased so drastically in London, I found myself craving quiet, remote spaces. Outdoor spaces can feel intimidating when you try and access them alone. It was only when I started climbing indoors in London, and I found a community of like-minded people, that I finally had a chance to experience the outdoors. Together we started exploring and quickly realised how much the environment had to offer - fun, reflection, and most importantly connection. I knew instantly that I would never want to give that up again."
What draws you to a bag?
Aya: “Probably its print and material.”
Jasmine: "The quality of the material is a prime feature I look for. Bags should be durable and able to protect their content in all conditions."
What is your favourite bag from this collection?
Aya: “The hobo bags!! So cute and simple.”
Jasmine: "The Quadrant Crossbody - Rolling Waves Rose"

Climbing isn’t just a sport — it’s a way of seeing the landscape differently, of engaging with it more closely and thoughtfully.
What print would you usually be drawn to — bold & bright or neutral?
Aya: “It honestly depends on my mood and the time of year, but I tend to gravitate towards bold, bright prints when I can. I like to keep the rest of my outfit simple and let my bag be the statement piece.”
Jasmine: "I love bold prints with earthy colours - which is why I was drawn to the Rose Rolling Waves print."

It’s a sentiment that feels perfectly aligned with Orla Kiely’s signature — playful prints designed to stand out, even in the quietest landscapes.
From rugged climbs to quiet moments in nature, this shoot was about more than just capturing a collection — it was about reflecting the spirit of those who live and breathe the outdoors. Pieces that are made to be used, loved, and taken everywhere.
