How it started
Ask Orla where the patterns come from and the answer is always the same place: Dublin, decades ago, before any of this was a career. It was a childhood spent around strong colour and considered design at a time when that wasn't the norm - in the furniture, the wallpaper, the everyday objects of home. This is a period Orla still takes much of her inspiration from season after season. Orla has always been and still is exceptionally hands-on in the design process, and this collaboration was no exception. She spent hours handpicking her favourite designs for the collection, rounding it out into a cohesive range.
Pattern and colour have always done the heavy lifting at Orla Kiely. They're what the brand was built on, and they're still the thing people respond to first a print that feels both bold and instantly familiar, warm rather than cold, personal rather than decorative for its own sake.
Thirteen prints, one very Orla Kiely mood
The collection brings together thirteen designs across three sizes, from statement pieces built to anchor a room to smaller motifs that slot in anywhere they're needed:
- Radial Flower and Wavelength - our two hero prints, full of scale and presence
- Wood Block, Electric Flora, Abacus Flower, Botanica Stem and Classic Multi Stem - mid-scale pattern prints, each one a study in repeat and colour
- Pear, Apple, Orange, Hen, Honey Bee and Elephant - smaller motif prints, playful and easy
