Proud to work only in natural yarns, they source as sustainably as possible from the finest grade raw materials, wet finished with care for the softest feel.
In homage to Robert Mackie, we decided to photograph our Knitted Accessories in Scottish fields, amongst nature. Our Creative Producer, Bella, visited the factory whilst she was there for the photoshoot. A team member from Robert Mackie kindly showed her and the crew around, showing every step of the production process from steaming, stitching and even pom pom making. The wonderful Theresa (one of Robert Mackie’s longstanding staff members) taught her how to use the pom machine. A very jolly, smiley atmosphere, everyone at Robert Mackie was more than happy to have a chat and explain their role within the company.
Originally set up in 1845 by Robert Mackie, and then passed down through generations, Robert Mackie of Scotland has been run by Graeme Haddow since 2015. Haddow’s entrance sparked a wave of modernisation, innovation and a push for sustainability. Everything that Robert Mackie produce is created completely in-house, from working on the design concept to machine knitting, wet finishing, brushing & textile assembly. Their products are 100% made in Scotland. With a handful of certifications to their name, Robert Mackie are proud to be a Woolmark licensee and an affiliate of the UK Fashion & Textile Association and Textiles Scotland. They are also members of SEDEX with a SMETA audit, also complying with the Ethical Trade Institute base code.
