How to measure for curtain width
How to Measure for Curtains with Pole in Place
Curtain Pole
If you have a curtain pole, measure the space between the two finials (the decorative ornaments at each end). Record this as your width.
How to Measure for Curtains with Track in Place
Curtain Track
For a curtain track, simply measure from end to end and record the result as your width.
Curtain Track with Overlap
If your track is made up of two overlapping parts, first measure the whole width from end to end. Then, measure the width of the overlap. Add these two figures together for your final width.
How to Measure for Curtains without Pole or Track in Place
Instead of measuring the pole or track, measure the window itself and add an overlap of 200-300mm. Do this at each side (for the width) and above the window (for the drop).
Please note that depending on the width ordered, curtains over 1260mm wide may come with joins in the fabric. If your fabric contains a pattern, the panels will be pattern matched across the seams.
How to measure curtain drop/length
Eyelet Curtains
Eyelet Drop
To measure a curtain drop you need to take three measurements - one on the left, one on the right and one in the middle. For eyelet curtains, measure down from the top of the pole to your desired length. Take the shortest of the three measurements and record this as your length.
Pencil & Pinch Pleat Curtains
Pencil & Pinch Pleat Drop
For pencil and pinch pleat curtains, measure from the underside of the ring fitting supplied with your pole or track, down to your desired length. Take three measurements - one on the left, one on the right and one in the middle. Take the shortest of these three measurements and record it as your length.
Floor Length Curtains
If your curtains are to hang to the floor, measure down to the floor as above and then take 1cm off that figure before you enter it as your drop. Curtains drop a little naturally over time, and that 1cm keeps them clear of the floor.

Heading information
Pencil Pleat
A gathered tape heading that draws the fabric into evenly spaced folds. The most versatile heading, it suits both poles and tracks. The 3" and 6" options refer to the depth of the heading tape.
Double & Triple Pinch Pleat
Fabric is hand-gathered into groups of two or three folds at the top, giving a tailored, formal finish. Triple pinch uses more fabric than double, for a fuller curtain.
Eyelet
Metal rings set into the top of the curtain thread directly onto a pole, forming deep, even waves. A relaxed, contemporary look. Eyelet curtains cannot be used with a track.
Wave
A continuous, uniform S-shaped fold created by a corded tape and a dedicated wave track. The neatest and most modern of the headings.
Wave track
Wave curtains need a dedicated wave track — a standard pole or track will not hold the fold. One is supplied with every wave curtain, cut to your measured width and complete with the brackets to fit it, and its price is included in the total shown.
Choose a motorised wave and the corded track is replaced by the wireless wave track.
Interlining
Interlining is a soft layer sewn between your fabric and its lining. It gives the curtain noticeably more weight and body, so it hangs in fuller folds, and it improves insulation and sound absorption.
It is the more expensive choice and produces a thicker curtain, so allow a little extra stacking space at the sides of the window.
Recess or exact fit?
Recess
The blind sits inside the window opening. Give us the measurements of the opening itself and we make the blind slightly smaller, so it clears the sides and runs freely. Do not make your own deduction.
Exact
The blind is made to the exact size you give us, normally to hang outside the recess and overlap the window. Add an overlap of 50–100mm at each side if you want to block more light.
Control type
Manual
Operated by a side chain. Choose the chain finish and which side of the window it hangs on.
Motorised
A rechargeable motor is fitted inside the headrail, operated by remote control or from your phone. No wiring is needed and there is no chain, which makes it the safer choice around children and pets.
Remote
Each channel can be set up to control an unlimited number of blinds. Set up different channels for different rooms or areas — Kitchen, Living Room, Upstairs.
Choose a side
Classic
Motorised Classic Romans do not have a pull chain, however, you can select the side to position the USB-C charging port in the most convenient spot.
Cassette
Motorised Cassette Romans come with a nickel pull chain. Select the side you would like this to be positioned.
Smart hub
A remote control operates your blinds on its own. A hub adds app control from your phone, scheduling, and voice control through your existing smart speaker.
Motion Matter Bridge
Connects your blinds to any Matter-compatible smart home system, so they can be grouped with your other devices and included in scenes.
One hub covers every motorised blind in your home — you only need to order it once.
Base cloth
Your design is printed onto one of two cloths. The cloth changes how much light the blind lets through, and how it can be cleaned.
Light Filtering
Softens and diffuses daylight while keeping the room bright. Gives privacy during the day, but shapes will still be visible from outside after dark.
Blackout
An opaque backing blocks almost all light, and helps keep the room warmer in winter and cooler in summer. The usual choice for bedrooms. A little light will always spill around the edges of the blind.
The solid stem motif in soft ivory against a warm, mossy seagrass green, for an earthy update on our signature design.
